Lydia Callan Prakel

Lydia Callan Prakel’s “Threads” is an experiment in papermaking process as well as an investigation into the small, quiet parts of themselves people in the LGBTQ+ allow to be seen by the outside world. Prakel created Threads through the use of donated items of clothing, ones that held sentimental value to the queer individuals who given them, that Prakel then used to create a pulp and make their oversized paper installations. Prakel’s work invites close observation to see the delicate threads and subtle embossed phrases in the surface of the paper.
