Beeler Gallery seeks 5 performers to work with Paris-based artist Laëtitia Badaut Haussmann to perform EXPOSURE, part of her larger project titled WATER, for Beeler Gallery’s Season Two: Follow the Mud. Created in collaboration with the artist and the location, EXPOSURE will take place in the Gunning House on Sunday, October 13. Also known as Glenbrow, the Gunning House is a 1940 Usonian-style home east of Columbus. Designed by architects Tony Smith (a renowned sculptor), Theodore van Fossen (known for Rush Creek Village in Worthington, Ohio), and Laurence Cuneo (who became art director for the TV show I Love Lucy), this historic house is imagined as a layered space in which the private and professional lives of its various owners fuse and interact.

In EXPOSURE, Badaut Haussmann continues to investigate the lost symmetries of modernism by interacting with a space populated by ghosts and desires to welcome 21st-century visitors who are in turn haunted and disoriented by the poetry and memory of the place. The work aims to question, via performance, different aspects of communication, visibility, interference, community, histories, rituals, and disturbance embedded in the social aspect and the time frame of art beyond the exhibition and the gallery context. Performers will work together with the artist to devise a series of gestures and movements, and to develop specific speech and vocal exercises as part of the performance.

The ideal performer will be comfortable with public speaking and physical expression. Applicants of all ages and backgrounds are sought. Please send a short description explaining why this project interests you, a resume, a headshot and/or a video documentation of previous performances, and your Skype handle to beelergallery@ccad.edu (For large files, please send links instead). Experience with improvisation and devising a plus.
