Laëtitia Badaut Haussmann, L'Amour est plus froid que la mort VII, VIII (Love is colder than death), 2018
Beeler Gallery initiates a series of amenities-based projects in the galleries conceived by artists. Paris-based artist Laëtitia Badaut Haussmann envisions L’Amour est plus froid que la mort VII, VIII (Love is colder than death), functional and movable seating arrangements for reading, listening, thinking, hanging out, zoning off, and various Beeler Gallery events and encounters. The seating serves as a reading area of issues of Radical America, printed at the Detroit Printing Co-op from 1970-1975, seating for the audience of Beeler History, interactive lecture by Minus Plato/Richard Fletcher, a listening event by Sharon Udoh of Counterfeit Madison and Robert Loss, talks by Sable Elyse Smith, Emily Spivack, and Season Zero’s Moving Image program. These seating arrangements are modifiable units that will appear as an ongoing project at Beeler Gallery, leading up to the artist’s participation in Season Two at Beeler Gallery in 2019-2020.
