MINT Collective (Columbus); Archive of Black & Red Books and Detroit Printing Co-op, An Art Book Affair at Beeler Gallery, 2018

The inaugural An Art Book Affair in 2018 featured local and international publishers, artist-run spaces and the participation of three international art book fairs, including the Detroit Art Book Fair, Copenhagen’s art book fair One Thousand Books, and Mexico City’s Index Art Book Fair.

For the inaugural edition, publishers were encouraged to forgo the table format and to conceive sculptural installations as part of their presentations, situated in our galleries within Season Zero: How well do you behave? IN THE FLAT FIELD. Accompanying programming included a gallery presentation on the history of Black & Red Books and the Detroit Printing Co-Op and a conversation with co-founder Lorraine Perlman, and Danielle Aubert, Maia Asshaq, Steve Panton, and moderator Daniel Marcus; a workshop conducted by publisher Lodret Vandret (Copenhagen) with Columbus College of Art & Design students to coproduce the publication “A good alternative to a lot of things.”
